Bonus photo Good Friday

Funky Centre Place was bustling today, although only a couple of cafes were open.

Bird looking for food in the the Yarra.

Anyone know what sort of bird? Any twitchers among you?

  2. Nice try, but it doesn't look like any of the cormorants photos that Google showed me. I have seen cormorants along the Yarra though (I know that now!).

I wonder if I googled "blue/grey water bird" whether I would get anywhere...stay tuned...nope. "Melbourne water birds" didn't even yield a single picture of a bird on the first page of results!

I have a friend who is a sometime twitcher. I'll ask him.

Scroll to the bottom to see moreof those.

I´m not a bird expert but one australian blogger, who I forgot now, has those often. At least the beak looks the same.

  7. It looks like a White Faced Heron (Egretta novaehollandiae). There's a nice close-up photo at http://blather.net/abroad/archives/2008/03/white_faced_heron.html

  10. The first shot reminds me of the ramshackle lanes in old England like in York.
