Derelict

Facade...

and what lies within...

The old CUB Brewery on the corner of Victoria and Bouverie Streets, North Melbourne, is listed on the Victorian Heritage Database, so presumably the facade will be retained during the redevelopment of the site, which is now underway.

  1. Looks like a prison from the outside. Must be the blue-stone.

  2. I was thinking an old jail or something similar too. Love the outside photo.

  3. Yes, it does look like a jail. I wonder if it's made from bluestone from the same area as the Old Melbourne Gaol? Could have been built in the same era...too lazy to look it up!

  4. Oh, and maybe the bars on the windows were to stop rabble storming the brewery?

  6. It was straight out of a prison movie, at least the exterior. Maybe some day someone will like it.
