Mid-north coasting

I'm just back from a week staying with my mother near Port Macquarie, on the NSW mid-north coast. We took a couple of drives inland to the Comboyne Plateau, Ellenborough Falls and Walcha.  It's a beautiful part of Australia - rugged mountains with tall eucalypts and leafy tree ferns and valleys of lush farming land.

  Probably time for a new cross though

It's a damp part of the country - where there's timber, there's lichen and moss.

Gardens extravaganza

Rescued

I rescued a European wasp from the Ornamental Lake in the Botanic Gardens (using a bird feather). If you look closely, you can see a tiny drop of water on its wing.

Moth in a front garden on Alexandra Avenue. I got one rushed shot before it flew off.

In the Botanic Gardens. We used to call these flowers billy buttons, though a Google

 search suggests billy buttons are something else.
