Buoys

Not sure what the story is with these traffic-light-coloured buoys in the Yarra Turning Basin area (the site of Melbourne's first port), near the Aquarium

Lake

I haven't seen the water level in the Botanic Gardens Ornamental Lake this high in ages thanks to the weekend rain. Not that it's that high still. Damn drought. Apparently plans are afoot to replenish the lake with reclaimed water.

Debris

Was it windy somewhere upstream last night? Waterways workers busy removing half a tree from the river this afternoon.

Coat of arms

The base of one of the lamps on Prince's Bridge. They all bear the City of Melbourne coat of arms with the motto which translates as 'We gather strength as we go'.

Old Cyclorama

I really like this building in Little Collins Street, near the corner of Russell Street. It's now apartments and shops, but in the 1890s it was home to a form of public entertainment called a Clyclorama.

Vista

Looking to the city and the new sports stadium from Hoddle Bridge yesterday (I haven't left my flat today). It's depressing how quickly the banks of the river are fading from lush green to yellow/brown.

Canopy

This is one of my favourite trees, a huge Golden Elm on the corner of Punt Rd and Alexandra Avenue. It was mentioned in a story in The Age last year on Melbourne's significant trees.

Beach

I had lunch with a friend at a restaurant on the St Kilda foreshore today. The sea breeze was beautiful.
(Yup, I've had a little make-over so that my photos are larger)

It's beginning to look....

...a lot like Christmas. The decorations went up in the city last weekend, these ones in the Bourke Street Mall (today you get a bonus bumblebee tram).

Decrepit

I love this old house on Cifton Street in Richmond. I think someone does live there.
